Seoul Streets: Happy Feet

Each time I go travelling my feet clock up a fair number of miles which for the most part I can’t complain about (even if they do).

Seoul Metro

Seoul is way too big to traverse entirely by foot but luckily has an extensive MRT system which I consider to be one of the best in the world with passengers who are mostly polite and courteous (save for the one time a girl tried to kill me). If only the same could be said for the London underground

Stacked Parking System

Parking space in Seoul is pretty restricted so clever contraptions like these are not uncommon. The cars which go inside them are tiny and identical – I think it might be part of a car-sharing scheme(?). I’m not quite sure how one operates it as it looks like it could be quite dangerous in the wrong hands!

Samsung Building

Whilst your first impression of Korean architecture may be that it’s quite bland and uniform in many areas there are good examples of quite the opposite. Above is an office complex owned by Samsung in Gangnam – pretty neat I’d say.

What’s your preferred mode of transport?

  1. Public transport combined with a bike will get you anywhere in the world you want to go, with minimal walking involved. Who needs cars?

Car. I don’t like public transport with all those humans on it. With a car it’s sitting there waiting for you, as opposed to you waiting for it. It’s normally faster than any other means (inside the UK, excluding inside large cities), and a much cheaper marginal cost.

Oh and I forgot to mention that mine has big leather seats like 1st class in an aeroplane and a fantastic hifi, and I can carry oodles of luggage, 5 humans and some animals

      1. Very nice, but not so practical when you’re 8000 miles from home 😉

Still makes me laugh all the people who drive around everywhere and religiously go to the gym. Ditch the car and save both money and time as well as your health by walking! Not to mentional the environmental benefits…

I don’t go to the gym, so am I let off? 😛

I’ve been thinking about doing the daily commute by bicycle. I reckon it’s 2.5 miles, 12 mph = 12.5 minutes.
Petrol cost is currently £17 weekly.
    Hmmm

    1. 2.5 miles is nothing on a bicycle – I can’t believe you take a car! Seems like a tidy saving while getting you fitter. Go for it 🙂
